New MacBook Pro with Retina display launched in India, starting Rs. 99,900

Apple has announced the launch of the updated MacBook Pro with Retina display range with fourth generation Intel quad-core (Haswell) processors, new graphics, next-generation Wi-Fi and faster PCIe flash storage options. 
 
The entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display now features fourth generation dual-core Intel Core i5 processors up to 2.6GHz with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.1GHz. The updated laptop comes with integrated Intel Iris graphics delivering up to 90 percent faster performance than the previous generation MacBook Pro with Retina display, as claimed by Apple. The 13-inch model can be configured with faster dual-core Intel Core i7 processors up to 2.8GHz with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.3GHz. The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display delivers up to nine hours of battery life, two hours more than the previous generation, and up to nine hours of iTunes movie playback.
 
The 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display features fourth generation quad-core Intel Core i7 processors up to 2.3GHz with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.5GHz. The 15-inch model includes Intel Iris Pro graphics for enhanced integrated graphics performance, or Iris Pro and GeForce GT 750M discrete graphics with 2GB of video memory for even superior performance, as per Apple. The 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display can be configured with faster quad-core Intel Core i7 processors up to 2.6GHz with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.8GHz. The 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display delivers up to eight hours of battery life, one hour more than the previous generation, and up to eight hours of iTunes movie playback.
 
The MacBook Pro with Retina display range now features PCIe-based flash storage that is said to deliver 60 percent faster reading speeds than the previous generation. Just like the 2013 MacBook Air, the portables also feature next generation 802.11ac Wi-Fi that delivers wireless performance that is up to three times faster when connected to an 802.11ac base station. The notebooks come with two Thunderbolt 2 ports capable of delivering up to 20Gbps of bandwidth to each external device, allowing users to connect to multiple displays and high performance devices, and an HDMI port for connectivity to HDTVs and projectors.
 
The updated MacBook Pro with Retina display ships with OS X Mavericks, which is the 10th major release of Apple's desktop operating system, and available for free. According to Apple, Mavericks comes with 200 new features, and introduces core technologies designed specifically for portables to boost performance and improve the battery life of Macs. 
 
Apple also announced that in addition to iLife, iWork productivity apps will also be included with every new Mac purchase. 
 
"We've made the world's best pro notebook even better by adding more performance and even longer battery life," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. "MacBook Pro with Retina display continues to redefine the pro notebook."
 
The 13-inch MacBook Pro is available with a 2.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 2.9GHz, 4GB of memory, 128GB of flash storage, and Intel Iris graphics starting at Rs 99,900 inclusive of VAT (Rs 94,961.98 excluding VAT); and with a 2.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 2.9GHz, 8GB of memory, 256GB of flash storage, and Intel Iris graphics starting at Rs. 114,900 inclusive of VAT (Rs.109,220.53 excluding VAT); and with a 2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.1GHz, 8GB of memory, 512GB of flash storage, and Intel Iris graphics starting at Rs. 134,900 including VAT (Rs. 128,231.94 excluding VAT). Consumers can also opt for Configure-to-order options including faster dual-core Intel Core i7 processors up to 2.8GHz with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.3GHz, up to 16GB of memory and flash storage up to 1TB.
 
The 15-inch MacBook Pro is available with a 2.0GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.2GHz, 8GB of memory, 256GB of flash storage and Intel Iris Pro graphics starting at Rs. 149,900 inclusive of VAT (Rs. 142,490.49 excluding VAT); and with a 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.5GHz, 16GB of memory, 512GB of flash storage, and Intel Iris Pro and NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M graphics starting at Rs. 199,900 inclusive of VAT (Rs. 190,019.01 excluding VAT). Configure-to-order options include faster quad-core Intel Core i7 processors up to 2.6GHz with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.8GHz, up to 16GB of memory and flash storage up to 1TB.
