Micromax A115 Canvas 3D review Anupam Saxena ,  June 13, 2013 Micromax is following Samsung's footsteps in milking its flagship brand, Canvas series, adding new handsets across price segments with differentiated features. The Canvas 3D is one such effort. The company aims to lure users by offering a 3D smartphone at a never heard before price point. While phones with 3D display including offerings from LG and HTC have failed to create a niche for themselves after the initial buzz, we try to find out if the Canvas 3D offers something different. Design/ Build The Micromax A115 Canvas 3D sports the same 'phablet' form factor that we've seen in the A110 Canvas 2.  The phone is broad and bulky, and there's nothing that we've not seen so far, in terms of design. The 5-inch screen dominates the front along with markings for three capacitive touch buttons below the display, and the earpiece, front facing camera and proximity sensor above it. Just like t...

Sony Cybershot DSC-WX300 revie

Point-and-shoot cameras are at an interesting place. Many believe that point-and-shoot cameras will soon be replaced by smartphones that have very capable cameras, and the likes of iPhone 5, Nokia Lumia 920 and others are proof of this trend. However, one advantage that point-and-shoots continue to have over smartphones is optical zoom, and having a huge optical zoom can indeed be of great use. Sony likes to call the Cybershot DSC-WX300 the smallest point-and-shoot camera with a 20x optical zoom, and on it's own the camera indeed looks tiny. Let's take it for a test and see what it holds. In the Box Sony Cybershot DSC-WX300 camera Manual Warranty card Power cable USB charger USB cable for charging Hand strap Battery HDMI cable 4GB memory card Build/ Design The Sony Cybershot DSC-WX300 is a small little camera when you hold it in your hand, but the moment you put it next to another point-and-shoot you realise it is not as small as it initially ...

Apple wants patent lawsuit to include Samsung Galaxy S4

Image
Apple has asked a federal judge in Silicon Valley to add Samsung's new flagship Galaxy smartphone to the list of devices targeted in a patent lawsuit involving Siri personal assistant software. The motion to amend the lawsuit to include the Galaxy S4 will be on the agenda of a June 25 hearing before US District Court Judge Paul Grewal in the California city of San Jose. "Apple's infringement theories regarding the S4 are identical to Apple's infringement theories against the already accused products," attorney Mark Lyon said in a motion filed Tuesday on behalf of Apple. The five patents at issue in the case include two associated with Siri voice-commanded personal assistant in iPhones. The filing maintained that the patents were infringed by voice-search capabilities in Android software used to power the Samsung smartphones. Other patents relate to the user interface and manipulating data, according to the filing. The case is one of many legal...

Samsung Electronics Co said sales of the latest version of its flagship Galaxy S smartphone have reached 10 million since its launch in late April, making the model its fastest selling smartphone. Solid sales have come even as supply issues have snarled the U.S. rollout through some carriers. Analysts expect strong sales of the fourth version of the Galaxy, which has propelled Samsung to the top of the $225 billion smartphone market since its debut in 2010, will help the firm report record earnings in the current quarter. Despite mixed reviews of the S4 by gadget experts, Samsung is benefiting from heavy marketing as it bids to gain market share in the absence of new competing models from Apple. Samsung won a rec...
